We’re proud to announce that we’ve helped more than 50 organisations across Calderdale save money on their energy bills since our launch in 2015.
On average, the first 50 businesses, organisations, charities and schools to have signed up have saved nearly 18% on their gas bills and around 13% against electricity consumption.
The savings add up to almost £200,000 across the borough.
Our energy consortium is a unique initiative designed to help businesses and organisations across Calderdale reduce their energy overheads. We are operated by Elland-based energy management experts Orchard Energy in partnership with Calderdale Council.
The name 6C represents the six former government districts of Calderdale - Brighouse, Elland, Halifax, Sowerby Bridge, Hebden Bridge and Todmorden.
Our scheme is the first of its kind in the UK.
Orchard Energy partnership manager, Caroline Jamieson, said: “6C Energy’s service is uniquely designed to help businesses and other organisations across Calderdale achieve cheaper bills and lower consumption by helping them adapt their current packages to suit their individual needs.
“We are able to pool resources with other member organisations to achieve greater buying power, resulting in significant savings on energy bills and longer-term stability in terms of package prices. We can also help establish long-term price stability and advise on the best time to purchase energy.”
Cllr Barry Collins, Calderdale Council’s cabinet member for regeneration and economic development, said:
“We are delighted that 50 local organisations have cut their energy costs thanks to the 6C Energy scheme, and we’re keen to work with even more so they can enjoy the same benefits. The scheme is also helping to reduce Calderdale’s carbon footprint, which is one of the Council’s priorities.”
